Matchworks Liverpool

New Climbing Wall Facility

February 2020

The Brief

Create a cutting-edge climbing wall facility within the old Bryant & May Matchworks which is a grade 2 listed building.

The Stripout

Knock 2 ground floor empty office units into one to create the space for new climbing area.
Working closely with the structural engineering & listed building advisers our metal fabricators came up with a steelwork solution so we could remove 2 steel columns so we could open up the internal space making more room for the climbing walls.

The Fitout

Reusing some of the existing spaces left from the office layout we created male & female changing/ toilet facilities including bespoke joinery from our workshop installing lockers & toilet cubicles. High end floor finishes, installation of fire rated plasterboard and glazed screens, birch plywood wall coverings.

Café & Kitchen

The Architects Urban Splash designed a funky café bar/retail and seating area, new reception space. Working alongside the kitchen staff and equipment suppliers we created a great kitchen in a tight space

Climbing Wall

The team from Renegade Walls designed & installed an amazing climbing wall tailor made to Climbing Wall specification and on brand color scheme.
